God's Banquet: It's our mission. Jesus speaks of how the kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He wanted all to join in the joy of the wedding. But some did not listen. Others seized his servants and mistreated them. The Lord brought judgment to them. Then he told his servants to go out and invite anyone you can find. He wanted his wedding hall filled. In the same way, God calls us to carry the message of his Son's message to the world. He wants his wedding hall--the glories of heaven and the victory over sin and death that Jesus has won for us--to be filled with people from all over the world. To carry out this mission requires faithfulness and offerings from God's redeemed people. We have a great mission while we are here on this earth. Let us support our mission with our sweat, our time and our offerings. And let us do so with cheer, for we have a great banquet in heaven to look forward to.
